A macro-technology developed and optimized in the 27th century to allow humanity’s expansion and spearhead across the galaxy towards the D’zarak home world. Ecoforges are a holistic approach to terraforming, using biology, geology, meteorology, and comet/asteroid herding and impact to transform planetary candidates (or their satellites) into temperate habitats for human occupation.
The terraforming process is slow, taking up to one hundred years before a planet can become habitable without significant life support systems. Typical planetary candidates are small planets or moons that reside in the habitable zone of the star or planet they orbit. The number of forges deployed to a planet is dependent on its size and initial ecological boundary conditions.
