Operatives, please access dossier file #4B in your bio.nodes, crypt level ‘strict.’

It has come to our attention that our space is being surveilled by a faction of humans believed to be an offshoot from pre-Diaspora Earth. This surveillance is being undertaken in both Realspace and Infinispace. Points of attempted entry in either case are unknown at this time. The purpose of the the intrusion is also unknown, but all branches of the Triocracy agree that it is likely for malevolent purposes as this faction has not yet chosen a form of direct contact. We further believe that this surveillance is in preparation for setting up a beachhead for a future physical or virtual incursion.

Information is sketchy at best, other than what Operative Nicia was able to crypt and upload to a cache shortly before her disappearance. This is the cache you are now accessing with your .nodes. Contained is a series of communications between what appear to be counter-operative Vek Technicians and another unknown entity, presumably some level of Vek Echelon. We will visit their dossier at another time. As of yet we’ve not translated the communiques as the language used is not Primary, though there are telltale elements of Primary present.

As you well know the Technician is one part of a symbiosis that holds the small, but fierce, Vek civilization together.

Within the dossier you will find two dimensional snapshots that have been extracted from the virtual feed, the rest of which was either corrupted or crypted. Study these images carefully. What you are looking at are Vek Technicians. Technicians are deadly physical and virtual adversaries. As you well know the Technician is one part of a symbiosis that holds the small, but fierce, Vek civilization together. Technicians (a.k.a. “Physicals”) are the warriors, builders, and strong arm of the Vek’s might … manifest in physical form. They are the workforce and protectors.  They are loyal to the core. They cannot be broken or swayed.

Being asexual they are engineered by higher order Technicians using genetic material from the Echelon and Matriarchs. Physically they are clearly human in form, and bipedal, though significantly larger than our own post-Diaspora form. It’s unknown if the gear worn in the image is part of some combat configuration or part of their biology, specifically the hardware surrounding the head. We’re unsure, but as we already know all Vek are at some level organomechanical in nature, and Technicians are clearly more mechanical than their progenitors.

Without Technicians the Vek would be weak and defenseless. Their minds and bodies have evolved (and been modified) to the point where their mental will is on par with their physical strength … able to crush an enemy mind by will of thought; or crush an enemy skull by force of strength. In addition they have the strongest grasp of interacting with Realspace (the physical world) relative to their Vek Echelon or Matriarch counterparts … and more so than most humans. This makes them ideal combatants, pilots, and laborers. They are deadly in all forms of conflict, and ingenious in the execution of that craft.

The good news, if there is any, is their cognitive skills are deficient, often far below even the most average of humans. We believe Technicians are engineered with this limitation to keep the Vek power structure in balance. They are also heavily dependent to working and carrying out tasks as defined units. If you are able to separate a Technician from its operative unit, your chances of survival increase greatly.

Technicians are big and nasty. Do not engage if you are lone wolfing in the field.

.FIN.

  1. These background stories about the Vek make me want to know more. On a technical side note, I love the dossier box. It’s a great use of an animated background. I really like your new site design. It is clean and easy to read. The white background really makes the images pop.
