From executive producer Ron Moore, creator of Battlestar Galactica, comes a new science fiction thriller – Helix.
Helix is an intense thriller about a team of scientists from the Centers for Disease Control who travel to a high-tech research facility in the Arctic to investigate a possible disease outbreak, only to find themselves pulled into a terrifying life-and-death struggle that may hold the key to mankind’s salvation or total annihilation. However, the lethal threat is just the tip of the iceberg, and as the virus evolves, the chilling truth begins to unravel.
Based on the trailers and information that’s been released there’s bound to be comparisons to John Carpenter‘s re-make of The Thing. This could be a good or bad extrapolation. Only time will tell. My fear is that it will be another show that leads viewers along by keeping the underlying plot as foggy as possible, leading views on to keep tuning in each week to learn answers that never come. Despite my general revulsion of the SyFy network I’ll probably (at least) give Helix a shot.
Helix premieres Friday, January 10 at 10/9c in the US, on Syfy.
