Sad news today in the publishing world. Sir Terry Pratchett has died at the age of 66.
Pratchett was the author of over 70 books, but he’s most remembered for his satirical Discworld Series, which was not only a satire of the fantasy genre, but of our own world itself. Many people believe Pratchett and Douglas Adams were cut from the same storytelling cloth, one focusing on fantasy, the other on science fiction. His classic British whit and humor will live on in his stories.
Terry was battling Alzheimer’s disease in his later years, eventually being diagnosed with posterior cortical atrophy which is a form of dimentia brought on by Alzheimer’s. He struggled with the disease and completed his last book (and new Discworld book) in the summer of 2014. He passed away on March 12th in his home surrounded by his family.
